General Description
On February 13, 2007, the United States Department of Labor (DOL) issued a letter to Governors announcing solicitation of the Third Generation of grant applications for the Workforce Innovation in Regional Economic Development (WIRED) Initiative. DOL is making $65 million available for this third round and anticipates that individual grant awards will total up to $5 million over the course of three years. Only Governors may submit grant applications to DOL on behalf of regional partnerships.
Local communities are encouraged to work together to develop proposals to be considered. Initial letters of intent must be submitted to the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services by March 16, with final applications due by March 30. A bidder's conference will be held March 8. The following documents will assist you in developing your proposal. This website is updated regularly, so interested parties should check it frequently.

As part of the WIRED Bidders Conference Packet a "draft" WIRED Score Booklet was distributed. This is the latest version of the WIRED Score Booklet that will be used by the Ohio Review Team to rate the grant applications. The new Score Booklet scores each factor within the categories and will be weighted to reflect priority established by USDOL.
Download: Updated WIRED Budget Worksheet [Excel]
As part of WIRED Application Submission, bidders need to complete this Budget Worksheet which itemizes proposed costs by source of funds, categories of expense and time period. The worksheet must be included as the final item in your application and will not count against the page limitations of the technical proposal nor attachments. The Budget Worksheet will not be submitted to the US Department of Labor. The information, in conjunction with narrative information, will be used by the Ohio Review Team to score the Leveraged Resources Portion of the Score Booklet and will compiled at the state level as a part of the final submission. Cost sharing or matching funding is not required, but highly encouraged. Federal, state, local and regional levels of resources (cash and/or in-kind contributions) devoted to advancing the WIRED strategies is expected. Leveraged resources are those used directly in support of the regional WIRED initiative.
