Expenditure of WIA Allocated Funds 
  1. Purpose

To provide local elected officials with policy regarding the commitment, obligation and expenditure of WIA-allocated funds.

  1. Effective Date

Immediately

  1. Background

Workforce Investment Act (WIA) funds were allocated to areas for expenditure on Youth Transition Activities effective April 1, 2000 and Youth, Adult and Dislocated Worker Activities beginning July 1, 2000.

  1. Policy Statement

WIA-allocated funds to Workforce Investment Areas and Sub-Areas under the Ohio Option must be expended in consultation with the local Workforce Investment Board/Workforce Policy Board.

No WIA funds can be committed, obligated or expended solely by the Fiscal Agent, Workforce Development Agency or County Commissioners unless the expenditure is within the parameters of the workforce plan approved by the workforce policy board.

  1. Action Required

Local Workforce Investment Boards and Workforce Policy Boards must approve obligations, commitments and expenditures of WIA funds.
